How Do Guests Buy All Those Lovely Presents?

Weddings are one of the only times you get to pick all the nice things you want and actually believe you might have a chance of getting them.

Many of you have been asking about where we are registered. So we finally did it! I got David to go shopping with me at MANY department stores and gift stores! David might equate shopping for china with going to the dentist, but when he gets there, his taste is just as particular as mine. We really wanted to find everything in one store and make it easy for you, but unfortunately that wasn't to be. So we hoped that by giving you some information about why we picked each item and what they look like you would be willing to go to the stores where we found the items or order them by mail order.

China

We found a wonderful pattern, Jean Louis Coquet, Saint Tropez, Limoges, France. It's a fun pattern. It comes in 3 different styles in blue, yellow and white which you can mix and match. We picked two of them so that's why you'll see that we only want 6 pieces of some items but a dozen of others. Here's a good B&W picture and finally here's a lovely color picture.

We registered at Ross-Simons. Their Boston store is located in the Atrium Mall in Chestnut Hill. For those of you not in Boston, they have stores in several states but not where most of you are. However, you can order from the web or by using their toll-free number: 800-556-7376.

We have also registered for this china at Nat Schwartz & Co. They are offer our J.L. Coquet, St. Tropez pattern at a 20% discount. So we recently registered for all the pieces we still need at both stores. Nat Schwartz is located in New Jersey but does most of it's business mail order. Call them at 800-526-1440 because they don't have a web version of their bridal registry.

Crystal

For this we chose more of a classic -- Waterford. The pattern we chose is Wynnewood. We registered for it at Bloomingdale's and thanks to many of you, were able to get all the pieces we wanted!

Dishes

David ADORES Botanic Garden by Portmeirion. However, we only had 6 settings of a few major pieces, so we registered for more at Bloomingdale's. Now, thanks to many of you, we have all the Botanic Garden pieces we wanted!

Silverware

We got many pieces of Oneida Coronation (when it used to be called Community) from Bonnie's family. We liked it enough to get more, since some pieces are still sold. But Bonnie's set has an odd number of some pieces, so we would love to get a few more. Serving pieces would also be nice and are probably more easily found at estate sales, antique stores and through replacement providers such as Replacements.com

Here's a cool serving piece Bonnie would love to have. It's a bonbon server

Other items

Bonnie LOVES Nambé and always wanted to have her own. She's given many pieces as wedding gifts, so some of you might have Nambé and understand why she likes them. We registered for a few Nambé pieces at Bloomingdale's.

Both of us have always enjoyed buying things for our home at local galleries and galleries when we are on vacation. Many of you have even asked where we acquired certain new items on our walls or on our table and they often came from a recent trip. There's several good galleries in the Boston area who have nice things like this. Signature Fine Art Gallery has been one of Bonnie's favorite's for a long time. She discovered that all bride and groom registry gift buyers get an extra 10% off. So we registered for a few items there, mostly serving pieces. This is a good place to shop if you want a more creative gift. Unfortunately, their web page is not very useful. But for those of you in the Boston area, they have two stores, Dock Square, Boston (617/227-4885) and Chestnut Hill Mall (617/332-7749).
